General Rules: Movie Submissions for 2012



Film Length: Any films more than 30 minutes is considered as Feature Film Submission.
Categories: Best Feature, Best Shorts, Best Innovations and Entrepreneurship, Best Vision of the Future, Best Green Earth, Best Animation, Best Music,Best Documentary.

  

We welcome films from anyone in any genre from International Movie Makers. Filmmakers in the greater Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area are encouraged to apply for the 'Made in Silicon Valley' title in addition to the International contest.

SILICON VALLEY FILMS AND STUDENT FILMS DISCOUNT:
If you are a filmmaker living in the greater Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area, OR if you are a student, you receive a $10 discount at each submission Fee. ( Apply by email with a proof of residence or Student eligibility with submission.)

Shorts: maximum 30 minutes

SCREENING:
By submitting your film at Silicon Valley Film Festival, you agree with SVFF to screen your film upto 5 screenings at the festival at any schedule. You also agree for our Chief Judges from International film Industry to review your film for final selections, if your film is selected in the first round.
Be Present:
Each Screening starts with introduction ends with Question and Answer with the Filmmakers.

SCHEDULE:
Scheduling will be programmed by the Festival committee.

If your film is accepted for screening at the festival, you agree that Silicon Valley's Public Access cable channels CreaTV, KMVT, Palo Alto Media Center and other community channels may broadcast all or part of the submitted video in selected Silicon Valley Film Festival video.
Interviews, Question and Answer sessions will be recorded on video and will be posted on SVFF Channel online.

AWARDS:
SVFF accepted films will qualify to compete internationally for 'Silicon Valley Awards' in a variety of categories in addition to Festival screening.
Awards include: Best of the following categories,
Feature, Short, Documentary, Animation, Music, Commercial Ad Spot, Green Earth, Vision of the Future, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Actor, Actress, Director, Editor, Cinematography.
All Award honorees receive Silicon Valley Awards trophy.
Our Juries select movies based on Uniqueness, Imagination, Innovation, Productivity, Social Change and all the creativity relevant to the Award category.

TOP 3 MOVIES IN ALL CATEGORIES:
Top 3 movies in each SVFF Award Categories selected by our primary Judges will be announced as 'SVFF Jury Nomination Films' . The Chief Judges will select the the best out of the best from Jury Nominated films.

PRIZES:
Silicon Valley Award winning movies also receive prizes from our Sponsors, Partners and Promoters.

SELECTION & NOTIFICATIONS:
All eligible entries will be reviewed by a Film Festival Selection Committee with Official Selections announced and notified by August 20 , 2012.

SUBMISSION COPY:
Films may be submitted by mail or as a secure screener through Withoutabox. If you choose to submit by mail, ensure that your DVD will play on U.S. DVD players (Region 0).
If you submit by mail, please be sure to include the following information:

Title of the work
Name of the entrant and all pertinent crew members and actors
Email address
Return address (With prepaid postage)
Phone number you can be reached at


RETURN SHIPPING:
A paid envelop should be provided by the filmmaker in order to return any submitted materials to SVFF.

DVD (/ B-RAY) GUIDELINES:

Again Go Green and send us an online copy.
Or
*** Preview DVD's should be clearly labelled with the title, running time and contact information (name, phone number, e-mail.) or WAB number.
*** If you are submitting more than one entry, a separate submission is required for each film, although they may be mailed together.
*** Blue Ray discs are accepted only for the Final Screenings and only for the Feature length Movies.
